1988 - JUAN Y MARÍA
Ayer de tarde las calles de Montevideo se sintieron tocadas por la acción artístico-social que realizaron 20 jóvenes dirigidos por Clemente Padín llevando grandes letras con las palabras JUAN y MARIA. Los jóvenes se pasearon por el Centro de Montevideo deteniéndose frente a edificios históricos, frente al mausoleo de Artigas, debajo de la puerta de la ciudadela y entre la gente que pasaba. Acompañando, la caminata de "JUAN" y "MARIA", un altavoz transmitía música popular, rock and rolls y diversas frases referidas a la acción. Era emocionante escuchar: "Adiós, hasta siempre; adiós hasta siempre; adiós..." despidiendo a los más de 150 jóvenes uruguyos que, diariamente se ven forzados a emigrar por problemas económicos. Y los volantes repartidos a la gente con la pregunta "¿Por Qué?" y algunas reivindicaciones referidas a la juventud. La acción artística se enmarcó en las actividades previstas a "Qué hacer por amor al arte" y terminó en la Plaza Libertad, conjuntamente con la movilización de los familiares de desaparecidos políticos uruguayos, durante la dictadura militar, quienes viernes a viernes se reúnen para exigir por la aparición con vida de sus seres queridos.

The Montevidean streets, felt touched yesterday afternoon by an artistic action, which generated twenty youths directed by Clemente Padin. Carrying large letters with the words "JUAN" and "MARIA", the youths went around the Montevidean town, standing next to buildings, and signs in front of Artigas's Mausoleum, under the City's Doors and among people who were passing by at that time. Following the walk of "JUAN" and "MARIA" a loudspeaker played rock and rolls and differents sentences connected with the action. It was touching to listen "bye; good-bye; bye, good-bye..." related to one hundred and fifty uruguayans who daily enmigrate finding among them a pamphlet to the audience just with the question "Why?" and a number of reivindications related to the youth's problematic. The artistic action framed in the previous activities to the "What to do for love to Art", ended up at "Libertad Square" where "JUAN" and "MARIA", were close to the missing's relatives, who Friday by Friday claim for the appearing of their missing relatives.
